A Serious Message About Street Racing.

On Saturday, February 4, 2006, Mark Richardson - Editor of the Wheels Section of The Toronto Star published a letter from DriftStar about the tragic consequences of the death of the cab driver, Tahir Khan on Mt. Pleasant Road when two teenagers were racing and one collided with Mr. Khan's taxicab.

I know we're all going to think twice about taking risks that can lead to some very serious consequences. I hope that everyone out there that we can influence, will choose to do the right thing and keep our streets safe from now on.

Speedsters urged to stay off streets

I read the tragic consequences of events that lead to the death of Tahir Khan. As a motorsports and responsible motoring enthusiast, I feel terrible for the family of Mr. Khan. I also feel terrible for the youths and their families.

This event is quite tagic and touches on a topic that is spoken frequently in my circles.

You see, I'm an enthusiast that tries to spread the message of good social consciousness and actions when it comes to motoring. Although I am involved in the perceptually "dangerous" sport of Drifting, I try to influence the young and old alike through the practice discipline off and on the track.

We're looking to expand our programme this year and also want to contribute to curb stop street racing. I want to network my organizations and work with all the organizations neccessary to change things, if not for the future generations of enthusiasts, for the families of all those involved in the tragic death of Tahir Khan.
